About the Gold River Streamkeepers Society
The Gold River Streamkeepers Society was created by the local Stewardship Coordinator through the Fisheries and Oceans Canada Stewardship Program in November of 2001. The purposes of the society are :
a) To sponsor, promote, facilitate, conduct, finance and to participate in programs and events that contribute to the awareness, promotion and development in the Nootka Sound area of:
- Conservation and stewardship of fish and fish habitat in Nootka Sound
- Education for the public on the protection of fish and fish habitat
- Fish enhancement, stock rebuilding and watershed restoration
b) To coordinate, facilitate, promote and assist in the raising of funds for the purpose of carrying out the objectives of the Society.
c) To coordinate, fund, work with and facilitate the operation of incorporated and unincorporated groups in the Nootka Sound area whose purposes are similar to those of the Society.
